“Christmas Eve? I’ll probably be driving somewhere in the French Alps with snow chains on my tyres! Driving home for Christmas… For many years, our family has gone skiing at Christmas and New Year, but this year my parents are staying at home in Wageningen and I’m going skiing with a large group of friends.
But… I do prefer to spend Christmas with my family. My mother prepares a huge meal and everyone helps. Well, you know, chopping and stirring – because my mother is the Christmas chef! It’s always very chaotic but great fun! I’ll be back in the Netherlands for New Year’s Eve, which I’ll probably spend in a student house with friends.
I’ve even got New Year’s resolutions! Around about this time last year, I moved from TU Eindhoven to Erasmus University. So far, everything’s been going well and I’m really enjoying myself. I never realised what a great city Rotterdam is! So my New Year’s resolution is to concentrate 100% on my studies here.”
