Mansi Jasuja (39) (alumna Urban Environmental Management)

“As a child growing up in India, I saw waste and garbage everywhere. I became greatly concerned with the environment and solving environmental problems, a passion that only grew stronger overtime.

Make it happen means making my children and people around me aware of how they are part of the world and how our actions affect the world. This eventually led to my career path.

In India, I obtained my bachelor in architecture and then came to study at IHS. After graduating, I worked for UNEP GPA in water and waste projects. Recently I started a foundation, Planet Green. The first project, Green Pedals, involves raising awareness on sustainability in schools, a project based on an adventurous journey of an Australian friend who is currently cycling from the Netherlands to Australia. It’s just a small contribution in the scale of the world, but every drop adds to the ocean, right?

I strongly believe that the greatest power lies within people and there is much we can learn from each other. When I look at students or alumni of Erasmus University, I see that many of them are involved in making the world a better place – each in their own ways.”
