“Ham and melon as a starter; steak and chips as main course and Viennetta ice cream with whipped cream for dessert. That’s been our Christmas menu for as long as I can remember. Not too ambitious, otherwise you just spend all your time in the kitchen instead of relaxing with family and friends, which is what Christmas should be all about.

I don’t believe in God and I don’t go to church, but I always wake up on Christmas morning feeling euphoric: ‘Yes, it’s Christmas!’ An amazing feeling. My brother and I still live at home, so in the morning we sit down to the Christmas breakfast made by my mother. Then we all watch a Christmas film and then it’s time to get ready for visitors. I love all that; a bit of make up, good hair! I do make sure that my outfit is comfortable, though. You always end up on the sofa feeling over full, so I’d rather not be wearing a cocktail dress!

Although my family lives close by, I don’t see much of them. I usually skip all the parties because I’ve got other things to do. That’s why Christmas is so much fun.”
