Yanú P. Ramirez (39, Msc. Urban Environmental Management)
“I’m living my dream. Thanks to IHS, I’ve acquired enough knowledge and skills to do several things at the same time – to work like an octopus.
I obtained my bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering in Honduras – I was part of the very first group of Environmental Engineers to graduate in my country. After graduation, I went back to Honduras to work. At first, I was mainly involved in projects in the rural part of the country, but later I did a lot of consultancy for projects dealing with the environment and sustainable tourism. I’m now the director of La Ceibas’ chamber of tourism. We work on local development and sustainable tourism. One of the main achievements has been leading the establishment of the first Sustainable Tourism and Climate Change Observatory in Honduras. There are only 6 worldwide and this will be the first on the American continent, so we are really excited!
Make it happen means being brave enough to do what you want to do. You can go with the river but you have to sail to get to your desired destination.
My son Santiago – he’s just turned four – is also an IHS product, because I met my husband here!”
