(Kevin Bloklander, student and manager Erasmus Sport Café)
“I grew up in Monster, a small village on the North Sea. Five years ago I came to Erasmus University. I knew absolutely no one in Rotterdam so I had to make a brand new start. I’ve been playing football since I was six, so I decided to join student soccer club Antibarbari. My entire social life in Rotterdam is linked to Antibarbari since. We work very hard but we also make a lot of fun. I have no fixed position in the field – that’s my strength as well as my weakness.
Did you know that the club is named after the book Antibarbarorum Liber of the philosopher Desiderius Erasmus? It means: the book against the uncivilized. Many people think we are Antillean! Sometimes it puts the counterparty on the wrong foot.”
